Color Guard Instructor

Kelly Whitfield

Picture
Kelly Whitfield is a graduate of Paulding County High class of 1999, and has the great privilege of being a veteran of the Pride of Paulding Color Guard as well, marching 1995-1999.  After graduating, Kelly worked with three bands in the surrounding area, and performed with the University of West Georgia for two seasons before taking time off to work on her degree.

Her love for marching band and especially color guard was first realized when she was ten, and saw The Pride rehearsing on the OLD, OLD practice field, previously located in front of the school.  After her paradise was paved and they put up a student parking lot, she took the “tour of universities” (three Georgia universities in 7 years!) and finally earned her bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from Georgia State’s Ernest G Welch School of Art and Design, while dabbling in theater stagecraft and costume design as well.  Her career as a perpetual college student has not ended; she is set to finish a master’s in Public History Spring 2010.

Her goals for this year are to help the ENTIRE band realize or remember how much fun and how much hard work band can be, and to help the guard realize their fullest creative performance potentials.  Look for her at the games wearing her decked-out letterman jacket, for good old nostalgia and team spirit.  Go Pride!
